- Caprice looks to regain winning ways in Smart HaloCaprice, who saw her three-race win streak snapped last out, will try to start a new one in Saturday’s Smart Halo at Laurel Park.
RACE 1: MAIDEN CLAIMING $25,000, 3, 4, AND 5-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES AND MARES, 4 FURLONGS
- #6 – Ariel Moon (9-5): Opened up a long lead second off the bench last out but got run down; should be able to finish the job today.
- #2 – Thundar Cloud (3-1): Stepped up dramatically at second asking at Charles Town last out.
- #1 – Heavenly Ciella (7-2): Faded on the pace last out but is trending in the right direction.
RACE 2: STARTER ALLOWANCE $5,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 1 1/16 MILES
- #3 – Gran Andrews (1-1): Looks for his fifth straight win for the red-hot Anthony Farrior/Arnaldo Bocachica combo.
- #4 – Uncaptured Storm (7-2): Hopes to rebound off a dull effort last out; his prior races contend with these.
- #5 – Clubman (5-2): Hard-knocking gelding rallied for third in his first start of the Timonium meet; he’s won twice on this track earlier in his career.
RACE 3: MAIDEN CLAIMING $25,000, 3, 4, AND 5-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES AND MARES, 1 MILE
- #3 – Bond’s Belle (5-2): She’s run well in both of her career starts; now stretches out from six furlongs to a mile for the first time.
- #4 – Short Skirts (8-5): Goes first off the claim by Farrior and takes blinkers off.
- #6 – Eight Oz Mocha (10-1): The “other” Farrior trainee should be sent for speed from the outside.
RACE 4: MAIDEN CLAIMING $12,500, 3, 4, AND 5-YEAR-OLDS, 6 1/2 FURLONGS
- #4 – Fierce Competition (5-2): Surged and just missed in a career-best effort last out.
- #2 – My Endeavor (5-1): Races for the first time since early March; ran some promising races over the winter.
- #6 – Galactic Glory (4-1): Looks like one of the main speeds of the field, and should enjoy the drop in class.
RACE 5: STARTER ALLOWANCE $5,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 4 FURLONGS
- #5– Island d’Lite (7-2): Just missed against similar rivals in a blanket finish last out.
- #1– Outkissed (9-5): Went gate-to-wire to win two starts back at Charles Town and will try to do the same thing here.
- #6 – Big Hambone (6-1): He also has plenty of speed but might get caught wide on the pace.
RACE 6: ALLOWANCE (N/W1X), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, MD-RESTRICTED, 1 1/16 MILES
- #5 – Society Ball (5-2): She’s run back-to-back big efforts going a mile; the extra sixteenth shouldn’t be much of an impediment.
- #2 – Spencerian (2-1): Came from off the pace to win going away in two of her last three starts.
- #1 – Bossyness (8-1): She’s the only one in here with a win at this distance and won twice going a mile at Parx earlier this year.
RACE 7: CLAIMING $10,000 (CONDITIONED), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 1 MILE
- #7 – In the Dance (8-1): He struggled in his last two tries, but his other races from earlier in the year win this; banking on a rebound at a good price.
- #2 – Malinois (5-2): His only bad race this year came when he did not race on Lasix.
- #4 – Magical Monarch (7-2): Switches back to dirt second off the claim by Charles Frock and looms as the main speed.
RACE 8: ALLOWANCE (N/W1X), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, MD-RESTRICTED, 4 FURLONGS
- #1 – Irish Hero (8-5): Went off as the odds-on choice against similar on opening day and finished second after setting the pace.
- #4 – Caribbean Pleasure (8-1): Flattened out on the pace first off the layoff last out, but should improve with a race under his belt.
- #3 – Banditsgoldenchild(7-2): A stablemate to Irish Hero, he should enjoy the cutback from 6 ½ furlongs and get a nice stalking trip.
RACE 9: CLAIMING $5,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 1 1/16 MILES
- #1– Assembly Point (2-1): Hard-knocking gelding isn’t as consistent as he used to be, but he occasionally pops up with a big effort (like he did in PA last out).
- #5 – Gold N Silver (10-1): Led every step at Charles Town last out, and will try to do the same thing here.
- #7 – Musical Heart (5-2): Won going away two starts back, and looks for a rebound after a flat try against better last out.
