RACE 1: MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT, 3, 4, AND 5-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES AND MARES, 7 FURLONGS

4-6-3-2

#4 Lady Sriracha (9-2) made two mild bids in her first two starts at Parx, running a brisnet figure of 72 both times. She drops into a pretty mid maiden field, one where a repeat of either of her first two races likely wins. #6 Hollywoodland (5-2) makes her first dirt start in more than a year after a string of speed-and-fade tries. She looks the main speed in here, and that early foot might be more potent at seven furlongs. #3 Be Inspired (4-5), a $575,000 yearling purchase for Mike Repole and LNJ Foxwoods, joined the Brittany Russell barn in mid-July and has worked steadily since then in anticipation of her debut. I’ll watch the board on her.

RACE 2: CLAIMING $20,000 (CONDITIONED), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 1 1/16 MILES (GRASS)

1-14-12-9

#1 Northern Tick Tock (7-2) had hit the board in all three starts this year, rating of the pace and grinding on for a share every time. He adds blinkers here for the Keri Brion barn. #14 El de Larry (5-2) ran back-to-back figures in the 80s in his last two starts, and should enjoy the drop in class from starter optional claiming foes both here and at Colonial Downs. #12 Rapper Zapper (8-1) took a big step forward second off a five-month layoff last out, and has plenty of back-class which includes numerous figures in the 80s on the synthetic last fall at Woodbine.

RACE 3: STARTER OPTIONAL CLAIMING $30,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 7 FURLONGS

1-7-3-6

#1 My Last Mission (9-5) beat first-level foes impressively at Parx two starts back, then finished a solid second behind the very sharp Band Camp last out. #7 Monday Morning Qb (7-5) ran his best race in a while last out, sitting the trip and kicking on to win against $20,000 starter optional claiming types going away. It was the first time he’d run in the 90s in nine months. If he runs well, the Maryland Million Sprint or Classic (which he won in 2021) might be next. #3 Cajun Dream (8-1) didn’t do much at Timonium last out, but finished a game third against similar two starts back, and has consistently packed good punches on this track.

RACE 4: MAIDEN CLAIMING $20,000, 3, 4, AND 5-YEAR-OLDS, 5 1/2 FURLONGS (GRASS)

6-13-14-16

#6 Pops Harper (6-5) cuts back around one turn after a mild two-turn try last out. He’s run in the 70s twice in his last three starts, something his compatriots struggle to do at all. #13 Same Day as L J (15-1) tries grass for the first time. He stopped badly after getting involved in a pace duel at Timonium last out, but ran respectably well on the pace at Charles Town in his two prior races. He gets an easy introduction to grass against this group. #14 Northern Cardinal (8-1) has chased the pace and gotten shares in his last few races, and now makes his grass debut. He’ll contend if his dirt form transfers over.

RACE 5: MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT, 2-YEAR-OLDS, 6 FURLONGS

10-9-1-8

#10 Amy’s Music (2-1) made what looked like a winning move on debut at Colonial, but couldn’t sustain it and ended up third. Still, it was a strong effort for a debut, and he now gets to face a largely inexperienced field. #9 Say Me True (6-1), one of five first-time starters in here, has had two bullet workouts within his last three drills for Robby Bailes. He’s a half-brother to two-time stakes winner Princess Kokachin and Maryland Million Lassie-placed Sparkle Sprinkle. A good performance might get him in the gate for this year’s Maryland Million Nursery. #1 Night Preacher (7-2) was a hard-fought second on debut at Timonium last out, and should set the pace from the rail.

RACE 6: STARTER OPTIONAL CLAIMING $20,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 1 MILE (GRASS)

8-11-13-6

After a series of near-misses, #8 Wish Me Home (5-2) finally broke through to win against slightly tougher starter optional claiming foes last out. If he can outrun Dark and Fitzy from his inside, he’ll be able to work out a similar trip this time. #11 Prince Khozan (9-2) has hit the board in three of his last four starts; aka his three starts where he got a half-mile faster than 48 seconds to close into. He’ll home Dark and Fitzy challenges Wish Me Home early on. #13 Guapo Again (5-1) has slowly improved in his last few starts, and now gets his distance test. He’s never raced further than six furlongs.

RACE 7: STARTER OPTIONAL CLAIMING $20,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 1 MILE

4-5-2-1

#4 She’sarollingstone (9-5) showed little in her first start off the Phillip Thommen claim, but was taken out of that race by Jamie Ness. She ran in the 80s in each of her five starts prior to getting claimed by Thommen; a return to that form will make her tough to beat. #5 Coal Mine (8-5) has won two straight against softer with the same stalk-and-pounce trip, and now gets her class test. She’s improved noticeably since joining the Troy Singh barn earlier this summer. #2 Isbaella’s Glory (6-1) has put in decent closing rallies in her last few, and won under Darwin Rodriguez last time, who stays aboard.

RACE 8: MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT, 2-YEAR-OLDS, 5 1/2 FURLONGS (GRASS)

8-3-4-10

#8 Stormy Flight (6-1) outran his odds on debut, grabbing fourth at 48-1 in late June. He’s never raced on grass, but there’s clues he’ll like the surface. He’s out of a multiple graded stakes winner on grass in Get Stormy and a half-brother to a grass winner. Any aptitude on grass might get the nod in a soft field. #3 Sinetic (9-2) surged and just missed in a blanket finish in his grass debut at Colonial last out. On paper, this is a step up in class, but looking around, it’s probably not that much more difficult of a field than the one he saw in Virginia. #4 Myluckyvalentine (7-2) has a short but stout worktab for Cal lynch, who tends to pop with his first-timers.

RACE 9: ALLOWANCE OPTIONAL CLAIMING (N/W1X), 2-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES, 6 FURLONGS

9-8-4-5

#9 Youmakemecharlie (4-1) came from off the pace and kicked away impressively to win her debut at Colonial in professional style. She should rate in the clear on the outside and be in a prime spot to make a move. #8 Cantico (2-1) battled wide on the pace and kicked on to win at Monmouth Park with an 81, the second-best last-out figure in the race. It represented drastic improvement from her career debut, where she raced wide and flattened out in a grass route. #4 Biscuitwiththeboss (6-1) became the first Maryland-bred winner of the 2022 foal crop when she won on debut here in May, but flattened out in the Astoria Stakes at Saratoga next out. Brittany Russell has taken her time with her since then, getting her back onto the worktab in late July. She’s turned in six good workouts since then. This will serve as a nice prep for the Maryland Million Lassie.

RACE 10: MAIDEN CLAIMING $45,000, 3, 4, AND 5-YEAR-OLDS, 1 MILE (GRASS)

4-3-1-2

#4 Stow On the Wold (9-2) ran a big second first off the bench two starts back, then ran a respectable 75 against a better field at this level last out. He looks well-meant in this spot. #3 Maximatch (7-2) led through pressure and held second at Monmouth last out. He had trouble getting settled in his two grass starts on the Jersey Shore this summer, we’ll see if he can relax with blinkers off and a rider switch to Jamie Rodriguez. #1 Hallelujah Harris (8-1) closed well for second on the step up from $16,000 at Colonial last out, losing only to an odds-on favorite. He should save plenty of ground in midpack.
