Post Time moves to head of Top Midlantic-bred Poll

With his win in the Polynesian Stakes at Laurel Park serving as a final prep for the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, Post Time will head to California atop the latest Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred/The Racing Biz Top Midlantic-bred Poll.

Trained by Brittany Russell for Hillwood Stables (Ellen Charles), Post Time is a winner in four of seven starts this year and has never been worse than third in 13 career outings. He has four stakes wins this year, including victories in the Grade 2 Carter and Grade 3 General George, and has placed in a pair of Grade 1 events.

Post Time’s recent Polynesian victory allowed him to inch ahead of last month’s leader, the three-year-old Book’em Danno. A New Jersey-bred Bucchero gelding, Book’em Danno most recently was third in the Grade 1 Allen Jerkens Memorial.

Book’em Danno is trained by Derek Ryan for Atlantic Six Racing, LLC. He’s won three times this year, with his victory in the Grade 1 Woody Stephens the most important of his career.

Also getting a long look from the voting panel was the four-year-old Pennsylvania-bred filly Neecie Marie. Trained by Butch Reid for Michael Milam, Neecie Marie’s two wins this year have come in Grade 3 company. She has also been second in a Grade 1 race and third in a Grade 2.

With more than $880,000 in earnings this year, Neecie Marie has zoomed past $1.1 million in career earnings.

The remainder of the top seven include the three-year-old Mindframe and a trio of distaff turf sprinters in Roses for Debra, Future Is Now, and Dontlookbackatall.

Mindframe, twice placed in Grade 1 company, was forced to the sidelines by bone bruising until the latter part of the year.

The three turf sprinters have butted heads on multiple occasions – in varying combinations – this year. All three are set to meet in the Grade 2 Franklin Stakes at Keeneland October 13.
