RACE 1: MAIDEN CLAIMING $30,000, 3, 4, AND 5-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES AND MARES, 1 1/16 MILES (GRASS)

13-10-8-4

#13 She Got the Munni (8-1) matched her career-best brisnet figure of 68 first off a 15-month layoff last out, making solid ground off a fast pace. That race was at 5 1/2 furlongs, and served as a nice way to ease her back into competition as she gets set to stretch out. #10 Minari (9-2) has looked large but failed to deliver in her last two starts, although she hasn’t turned in a true clunker in any of her three starts. She’s lightly-raced enough to make me believe. #8 Kake’s Tap Dancer (8-5) is 0-for-14 lifetime, and has lost her last three as the favorite, but she’s also been facing better all year long. As long as she doesn’t run down to her competition, she’s a serious threat.

RACE 2: CLAIMING $20,000, 2-YEAR-OLDS, 5 1/2 FURLONGS

4-6-7-5

#4 Bad Boy Blaze (5-2) broke his maiden in very impressive stylelast out, albeit against very soft competition. He gets a bit of a class test here, but if he breaks cleanly and makes the front, he’ll be gone. #6 Sir Mick (9-2) couldn’t make the front against better (including Maryland Million Nursery winner Do It for Michael) last out, and ended up well-beaten. This field looks like more his speed, and he’ll also benefit from a rider switch to Mychel Sanchez. Look for him to sit just off the pace. #7 Supreme Mind (12-1) has taken big steps forward in his two starts since getting claimed by Dan Siculietano in early September. He could close for a share at a good number.

RACE 3: MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT, 3, 4, AND 5-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES AND MARES, 1 MILE (GRASS)

2-11-3-9

#2 In This Moment (10-1) closed well and lost in a blanket finish on debut at Colonial Downs, losing only to the two heavy chalks as the only firster in the field. If you get anywhere near her morning line, it’s a steal. #11 African Waters (4-1) hasn’t raced since early January, but was well-bet on debut at Aqueduct last September, and led most of the way and held second last out on dirt at Tampa Bay Downs. She has a very grassy pedigree, being a half-sibling to five winners on this surface. #3 Reppazz (6-1) has shown speed and faded in her last three tries, but if the track is as speed-favoring as it was last week, she’ll be dangerous.

RACE 4: MAIDEN CLAIMING $45,000, 3, 4, AND 5-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES AND MARES, 7 FURLONGS

5-7-3-2

#5 Not Guilty (5-2) led most of the way and held second going a mile first off the Keri Brion claim last out. She takes blinkers off and finds herself in a field not half as tough as the one last out. #7 Lady Sriacha (6-1) has run in the 70s three times in four career starts. She couldn’t wear down gate-to-wire winner Peach Tea last out and held second. She could end up in a similar spot here. #3 Diamond Sue (2-1) is 0-for-12 lifetime, but has been in improving form on this track since returning from a year-plus layoff in June.

RACE 5: STARTER OPTIONAL CLAIMING $12,500, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 5 1/2 FURLONGS (GRASS)

5-4-7-11

#5 Rough Draft (4-1) has run in the 80s five times in a row in New York, and now makes his local debut for Emanuel Geraldis. If he repeats his northern efforts, he’ll be tough to beat. #4 Matta (2-1) hasn’t found the winner’s circle in a while, but he’s also faced better most of the year. If he’s ever gonna win again, it’ll be in a field like this one. #7 Smitten Enough (8-1) improved to an 82 second off a brief layoff last out, and will also hope the speed bias is still in play.

RACE 6: MAIDEN CLAIMING $12,500, 2-YEAR-OLDS, 6 FURLONGS

9-10-12-4

If Bad Boy Blaze wins race 2, it’ll validate the form of #9 Up in Flames (3-1). This one chased that rival last out, and though he couldn’t keep up, he held on for second with a career-best 67. He should improve against what looks like an easier field. #10 Work for Peace (9-2) finished fourth behind Bad Boy Blaze and Up in Flames on debut last out. He closed well that day, and should improve at second asking. #12 Sir Chance a Lot (8-1) battled on the lead and held fourth in a much-improved effort last out. The post is the only drawback; he runs the risk of getting caught wide on the pace.

RACE 7: MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT, 2-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES, 1 1/16 MILES (GRASS)

2-3-16-4

#2 Sail Theseven Seas (9-5) is already stakes-placed three times in her career, and finished a hard-charging second in her lone grass try, the Jamestown Stakes, two starts ago. The distance is a question, as she’s never been two turns before, but if she handles it, she wins. #3 Radiant Tunes (8-1) raced on the pace most of the way and held third on debut on grass at Colonial Downs two starts back, and should improve switching back to grass. #16 Flame Dancer (8-1) will need some help drawing in, but will be tough if she does. She surged and just missed at first asking at Delaware Park, and her only winning sibling won on this surface.

RACE 8: STARTER OPTIONAL CLAIMING $30,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 1 MILE

1-2-4-6

#1 Walk Away Joe (4-1) hasn’t delivered on low-priced promises in a while, but even though it’s a class hike on paper, this is one of the easier fields he’s seen in a while. He runs in the 80s very steadily. #2 Three Captains (5-1) came from well off the pace and won going away three starts back last out. He ran a career-best 91, an outlier figure from the rest of the form, but he’ll be a threat if he runs close to that race. #4 Splendor Beauty (6-1) ships from Parx for the Jamie Ness/Mychel Sanchez duo, and has plenty of speed that should be potent on the one-turn mile.

RACE 9: ALLOWANCE (N/W1X), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 1 1/16 MILES (GRASS)

1-4-9-8

#1 Miss Amazing (5-2) went gate-to-wire to win at Delaware at 44-1 last out. You won’t get those odds here, but she faces a fairly soft first-level field, gets a barn switch to Gary Capuano, and a rider switch to Jaime Rodriguez. She should be sent for speed. Interestingly, she’s a homebred for the Bowmans. #4 Turf Rocket (9-2) and #9 Victory Badge (8-1) are both Mike Trombetta trainees. The former closed well in three tries at this level at Colonial, and should also benefit from facing an easier field. The latter has found her best self on the synthetic at Presque Isle Downs as of late, and won on this track last November.

RACE 10: CLAIMING $12,500 (CONDITIONED), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 7 FURLONGS

7-13-11-3

#7 Kitty’s Pretty (6-1) cleared her non-winners of two condition in easy style at Delaware, benefiting from a class drop and it being her third start off the bench. She’s one of the lightest-raced horses in the field; this is just sixth start. #13 La Macchina Rosa (12-1) had won three of her last four starts against similar, and her only fefeat came by a head two starts ago at Monmouth Park. She should get a nice trip and could make an impact at a possibly generous number. #11 Sadie the Goat (5-2) ran some big races around two turns at Monmouth this meet, as part of a sensational summer for Mario Serey. We’ll how she does in her Maryland debut.
