Inglis Digital October sale underway

The catalog for the 2024 Inglis Digital USA October Sale is now online, placing a globally appealing slate of 67 horses on offer.

Bidding is currently open for the online auction, and lots will begin to close on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. Eastern, with subsequent listings closing in three-minute increments.

The October sale catalog features lots for a wide cross-section of buyers, from breeders and pinhookers to those shopping with an eye toward the racetrack.

Among sale’s highlights is the young broodmare April Vintage, a stakes-placed daughter of Vino Rosso who is on offered pregnant to the red-hot sire Justify on Southern Hemisphere time.

Offered by WinStar Farm, April Vintage was a stakes-placed juvenile in 2023, winning a Del Mar maiden special weight, and following up with a third-place effort in the listed Speakeasy Stakes, both going five furlongs on the turf.

“She was a talented, stakes placed, 2-year-old, and she has the physical makeup to suit the Australian market,” said Elliott Walden of WinStar Farm.

April Vintage is offered for sale in the October 2024 Inglis Digital sale.

After her racing career came to a close, April Vintage was bred to Triple Crown winner Justify this summer on Southern Hemisphere time, making her an appealing addition to broodmare bands around the world.

Justify’s star at stud continues to rise, both domestically and globally, with seven lifetime Grade/Group 1 winners.

His stateside runners are led by Eclipse Award champion and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Just F Y I and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Hard to Justify. Breeders’ Cup Classic contender and European champion City of Troy – the world’s highest-rated galloper on turf – heads up Justify’s European successes on the strength of four Group 1 wins, while Opera Singer has won Group 1 races in England and France.

Justify has been just as powerful in the Southern Hemisphere, where he was Australia’s leading freshman sire of 2022/23. His Australian runners are led by a pair of Group 2-winning millionaires: Storm Boy and Learning to Fly.

“We’ve been very fortunate to have been involved with a horse like Justify,” Walden said. “He’s one of the world’s elite stallions, and is excelling in every jurisdiction. This is a unique opportunity for those in the Southern Hemisphere to own one of the very few mares available in foal to this stallion.”

The catalog also features Baroness Bourbon, a New York-bred stakes-placed daughter of Laoban, offered as a racing or broodmare prospect by trainer Jamie Begg.

Baroness Bourbon is out of the Dixieland Band mare Princess Consort, making her a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Waterway Run, and stakes-placed runners King of New York and Dr. Kraft.

The draft of pregnant mares features a member of the first book for multiple Grade 1 winner Dr. Schivel, along with others in-foal to stallions including Take Charge Indy, Global Campaign, Aloha West, Mystic Guide and Beau Liam.

Racing-age offerings in the October sale include several last-out winners.

Stallions represented by yearlings in the catalog include Cairo Prince, Honest Mischief, and Cloud Computing. A first-crop weanling by Pinehurst will also be on offer, heading up a slate of youngsters also sired by Tacitus and Cloud Computing.

The October sale is being supported by multiple consignors offering large drafts in this month’s catalog, including John Robb (12 horses), Waldorf Farm (seven), Housatonic Bloodstock (six), and Larry Johnson’s Legacy Farm (six).

“We are thrilled to offer such a diverse catalog in this October digital sale, featuring everything from weanlings to broodmares, and racehorses ready to run,” said Inglis Digital USA CEO Liza Hendriks. “April Vintage, in foal to Justify on Southern Hemisphere time, perfectly highlights the global reach of our marketplace, allowing breeders from around the world to access top-quality horses.”
