Laurel Park hosted a trio of stakes November 9th. In the main event, Foxy Junior, with Yomar Torres up, overcame longtime leader Malibu Beauty in upper stretch and went on to defeat that rival by almost three lengths in the Thirty Eight Go Go.
The win was Foxy Junior’s third in a row, all coming in stakes company. That streak Includes a win in last month’s Maryland Million Distaff. She has won six of seven starts this year and now has over $332,000 in career earnings.
Foxy Junior is trained by Bernie Houghton for Dianne Stern.

Earlier on the card, two-year-old Caprice rallied late under Jamie Rodriguez to win the Smart Halo Stakes for juvenile fillies. It was the fourth win in five career outings for Caprice, a filly by Golden Lad.
Caprice remains undefeated at sprint distance. Her only defeat came when finishing a troubled second in the one-mile White Clay Creek at Delaware Park.
Caprice is a homebred for Greg and Caroline Bentley’s Runnymoore Racing. She is trained at Fair Hill by Cal Lynch.

Maryland’s turf season ended November 10, with Laurel Park’s 10-race card that day featuring five turf races.
The day’s five turf winners all paid at least $24 on a two-dollar wager, with the longest of those being third race winner Bunny Hop. The 3-year-old filly rewarded backers with a payout of 73 dollars and 40 cents for a two-dollar win wager.
The season’s final turf race went to New York Panther, who rallied in the final furlong to win by a length under jockey Jean Briseeno. New York Panther is trained by Hugh McMahon for Hill CCM and Smothers Brothers LLC. The win was his first from 11 starts this year and fourth overall from 26 outings.
