Laurel Park cancels November 22 card

The Maryland Jockey Club canceled Friday’s nine-race program at Laurel Park prior to the opener after speaking with jockeys who expressed concerns about riding over the main track.

Following the cancellation, track officials were in the process of further evaluating the racing surface.

The cancellation came minutes before ths scheduled first post. Temperatures in Maryland Friday have hovered in the mid-30s, and the area has seen a heavy wet snowfall, albeit one that has not stuck.

It is the track’s sixth cancellation of the year. Four of those came in a one-week period in January.

Racing is scheduled to resume Saturday, November 23. The nine-race program begins at 12:25 EST and includes three stakes.
