RACE 1: CLAIMING $7,500, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 6 FURLONGS

8-1-9-3

#8 The Bullion Bomber (3-1) won gate-to-wire in his first start off the Carlos Mancilla claim last out, opening up a clear lead in the stretch and holding on to win. His outside draw is tough, but he has enough early speed that he can make his way to the rail and the lead with a clean break. He also gets Jevian Toledo in the saddle, an especially large advantage considering four horses in here will be ridden by jockeys with no more than one win on the year. One of those is #1 Brazillionaire (9-5), whose rider, Crystal Conning, got her first win of the season on Tuesday at Parx. This one chased and held fourth last out at Aqueduct, but hasn’t raced since that late June effort, and only once in the past 8 3/4 months. This one has back-class, and has worked well recently for Mario Serey. He’ll be a threat if he can rediscover that form. #9 Summerstateofmind (15-1) won back-to-back races on this track earlier this year, and improved sharply second off a seven-week layoff last out. He also gets an inexperienced jockey; in his case, Mirko Sanna.

RACE 2: STARTER OPTIONAL CLAIMING $20,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 1 1/16 MILES

3-1-2-7

Jamie Ness has them surrounded in here; he trains both of my top two picks. #3 Divine Grace (8-5) has won three in a row on dirt, and closed off a moderate pace to win last out going two turns at this level. She hasn’t raced since that mid-August performance, but has worked well lately at Ness’s Delaware Park base. #1 She’sarollingstone (5-2) has run her best races on this track, and is poised to rebound following a flat fourth at this level at Delaware last out. She’ll sit in mid-pack on the rail and make a strong move as long as she has clear sailing. #2 Sadie the Goat (5-1) won going away in her last dirt start at Monmouth Park, and now switches back to this surface after finishing up the track twice on grass. She’s never faced a field this strong on dirt before, but is in improving form, and should get a nice trip on or near the pace.

RACE 3: CLAIMING $40,000, 2-YEAR-OLDS, 6 FURLONGS

6-7-3-4

#6 Bangkok Bob (7-2) broke his maiden at Delaware in early August over stakes-winning stablemate Sacred Thunder. He didn’t do much against stakes company in his next two races, but he blossomed when dropped to open claimers for the first time last out. He sat off the pace and won at much the best, with a career-best brinset figure of 87. He faces a similar field here, and should have his way with them. #7 Chipotle (5-1) has also been up and down the class ladder. He broke his maiden in sharp gate-to-wire style at first asking, didn’t do much in his next two starts (including a stakes try in his native Minnesota), then ran a career-best 83 against first-level rivals last out. Going into claiming company should also do him good. #3 Kerness K (2-1) has run in the 80s four times in a row, and should make the rail and the lead under Jaime Rodriguez.

RACE 4: STARTER OPTIONAL CLAIMING $30,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 1 1/16 MILES

1-6-7-3

#1 Mose Perfect (3-1) won at this level last out, wearing down favored leader Splendor Beauty and holding off Union Fleet’s late charge to win by a nose. He might be able to make the lead, without a ton of other speed in this contest, and from there, would prove tough to catch. His biggest challenge on that front may come from #6 My Last Mission (2-1), who pressed the pace and got up over New York-bred allowance rivals at Finger Lakes last out. His best figures have come when he’s on the pace, so Mychel Sanchez is sure to put him in play early. #7 Penny Loafer (8-1) defeated Mose Perfect two starts ago in an 11- upset. He’s lightly-raced and has not run a figure near Mose Perfect’s ceiling, but he’s in improving form and cannot be discounted at a decent price.

RACE 5: CLAIMING $7,500, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 6 FURLONGS

6-2-3-7

#6 Coal Mine (9-2) won twice in a row for this tag over the summer, defeating next-out winners both times. She got absolutely throttled in her next two starts against better, but should relish the class relief. #2 Ashlee’s Ring (6-1) led every step and won at Penn National last out, but hasn’t raced since that late August try (although she was entered at Penn on Halloween for a $4,000 tag and was a judges’ scratch). This will be her first start for the T.J. Aguirre barn. Look for her to show speed from the inside and try to maintain he improving form. #3 Bandits Warrior (5-2) hasn’t shown much punch in her last few starts, and continues to drop down the class ladder in hopes of rekindling her promising form from the spring. This might be a “now-or-never” spot.

RACE 6: MAIDEN CLAIMING $30,000, 2-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES, 6 FURLONGS

7-4-6-5

#7 Gem Runner (4-1) chased the very impressive Malibu Hooch (who beat first-level rivals last Saturday) and held second on debut at Timonium, then showed improving form in her next two starts on grass. She now drops for a tag for the first time. #4 Carol Said No (6-1) set the pace and just got caught in her dirt debut at Monmouth, then got knocked out of contention last but at Aqueduct when she broke terribly. Toss out that race (as you probably should), and her form looks much better. #6 Wall Street Magic (3-1) set a clear early lead at first asking on grass, but faded in the last eighth. She’s the opposite of her cousin, Post Time, in that her early speed makes her a serious threat to win this race.

RACE 7: ALLOWANCE (N/W1X), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, MD-RESTRICTED, 1 MILE

3-1A-2-5

#3 Derbyness (9-5) set honest fractions and held second at this condition last out. He got caught by War Master, an improving horse who picked up his third straight victory that day. This one is a threat to lead all the way against these. #1A Jardani (5-2) is 0-for-11 on the year, but he also hasn’t run worse than an 81 on the main track on dirt this year. He made decent ground from last first off a two-month break last out, and should close well for at least a share. #2 Dolice Vita (7-2) was overmatched in the Maryland Million Classic last out, but he’s held his own against these types in the past and is making his third start off a six-month break.

RACE 8: ALLOWANCE (N/W1X), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, MD-RESTRICTED, 5 1/2 FURLONGS

5-6-1-7

Three horses in here competed in a race at this condition on October 11. #5 Bondiva (5-1) got involved in a speed duel that day, and while she outfinished her dueling partner by a length, she couldn’t hold off two rivals who sat great trips and held third. Her battle buddy (Kilo Road) is back in this race, but this one is consistently faster, so I think there’s a chance she gets to a clear lead this time. #6 Summer Odds (9-2) got the trip off the duel and finished second in that October 11 contest, in her third start off an 11-month break. She ran consistently solid figures on this track last summer, and might be rounding back into her best form. #1 Ribbonsinherhair (3-1)

RACE 9: CLAIMING $20,000 (CONDITIONED), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 6 FURLONGS

4-3-5-9

#4 Yumyum Eat Em Up (6-1) has posted back-to-back victories on this track, including a dead-heat victory last out after an exciting stretch battle. She’s shown improving closing speed in her last few races, and should handle the step up in class well. #3 True Sunshine (9-2) lost early position after a tough break last out, but ran well against better on this track earlier this year. She tends to sit just off the pace and hang around for a share. #5 Hot Dance (5-2) finished a pace-chasing second when dropped to this level last out, and sat a great trip to win against non-winners of two rivals three races ago. She might have to get closer to the lead than usual this time in a race without a ton of early pace.
