Charles Town picks and analysis: February 15, 2025
Picks and analysis for this evening’s card from Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races:
- DATE: February 15, 2025
- RACES ON CARD: 8
- CARRYOVERS: Jackpot Pick 6, $2,573
- POST TIME: 7:00 p.m.
RACE 1
2. Rezquia | Good try in latest behind now-five-time winner and drops a step in company |
1. Vino From Ernies | Second off the bench and has better tries to run back to |
4. Titian Tyrant | Trainer Robb wins at a 26% clip at CT |
RACE 2
5. Maltese Rose | Two of three that beat her in latest entered with four wins – won’t see anything like that here |
3. Joyful Kitten | Switches into Figgins barn (29% with positive ROI on trainer switch); if this one drifts up at all, could end up being the value in this field |
6. Saffron | Last couple aren’t great but prior form would win here |
RACE 3
4. Powered by Love | Might be speed of the speed; just missed versus similar two back and shows a bullet move in preparation for this Feb. 5 |
1. Just Call Me Al | Cutback to one-turn dash seems to have been just what the doc ordered |
7. Evanesco | Makes season bow |
RACE 4
5. Runaway Beauty | Highest upside of the group; last was a clunker, but return to prior form would win here; makes second start off the bench |
3. Kristinachrysalis | Speedy sort makes first start in Murdock barn (3-for-5 first off the claim moving from claiming to allowance) |
2. Xanthe | Decent try in latest and makes third off the bench |
RACE 5
1. Felicias Cinco | Sibs have done best work going 6 1/2 to 7 furlongs, and it feels notable that rider Reynolds rode both Grams trainees last out but chooses this one |
5. Gimmethatsugar | Improving sort didn’t miss by much in latest |
6. Renegade Rabbit | Might be main speed in here and is drawn outside others with lick; last better than it looks after prevailing over dueling rival |
RACE 6
2. Nocashrefunds | Rarely wins, and you wouldn’t want to take lower odds than the morning line, but should sit an ideal trip with speed inside and outside |
7. Break the Chains | Just missed against similar last out but the pace scenario is complicated by inside speed |
6. Kaylee’s Spitfire | Not unlike our top choice, this one could get a pace to run at |
RACE 7
8. Play It Loud | Didn’t miss by much in latest and galloped out in front despite wide trip around second; note rider Latchman chooses this one over last-out winner Jungle Beast |
6. Muad’dib | Millionaire ended ’24 in top form and looks to continue into eight-year-old season; returned from the bench to win just about a year ago and would be no surprise |
2. Sarah’s Candy Camp | Speed of the speed gets blinkers on |
RACE 8
3. Gericault | Improved speed figs in three straight and should sit a great trip on the lead or just off in a race light on early foot |
7. Coronation Time | Has run well in last two local starts and makes second start in solid Reynolds barn |
5. Secret Soulmate | One of the most unusual past performances you’ll see: claimed away from current owner more than two years ago, now shows up back with him after seven straight jumps tries over two seasons |
