This year’s Virginia Derby is different both from earlier Virginia Derbies and from other Kentucky Derby preps. Offering 50 Derby points to the winner, this year’s Virginia Derby is the final 50-point prep of the season, the last one-turn race, and the longest one-turn race at 1 1/8 miles.
The winner will sew up a spot in Louisville. Will it be Baffert and Getaway Car? Lukas and American Promise? A local hopeful? Who do you like?
