What to watch at Charles Town this weekend
With competitive fields and a mix of experienced runners and emerging talent, the three-day lineup for Charles Town Races kicking off April 3 is expected to draw attention from racing enthusiasts.
Here’s what we’re watching:
One of the key races on Friday, April 4, features Gran Andrews, a six-year-old gelding trained by Anthony Farrior and ridden by Arnaldo Bocachica. The horse has performed exceptionally well at Charles Town, holding an 11-race win streak at the track. Entered in a starter allowance event in Race 6, Gran Andrews will compete against Ozone and Brett’s World as he aims to continue his strong form.

Also on Friday’s card, Jazman Can, a three-year-old gelding from the Ron Sigler stable, looks to follow up on his maiden victory in a West Virginia-bred allowance race (Race 7). He will face competition from Gimmethatsugar and Romantic Warrior in a race that could signal his potential for future success.
Thursday’s racing on April 3 includes Chickin Lickin, a filly trained by Ollie Figgins, making her debut at Charles Town in a first-level allowance race. She will bring experience from out-of-town races into the local circuit. as she competes against the likes of Corri Felice and Caribbean Comedy,
On Saturday, April 5, Kristinachrysalis, a four-year-old filly trained by Stephen Murdock, will race in a starter allowance event. After finishing as the beaten favorite in her last start on March 29, she is looking to return to winning form against Frenchies Gold and Arrowwood in Race 6.
Another notable entry on Saturday is Amalfi Sunset, a filly trained by Kevin Joy. Expected to be a strong betting favorite in her local bow in a maiden special weight race, she will have jockey Victor Rodriguez in the irons while competing against Next Agenda.
