RACE 1: STARTER OPTIONAL CLAIMING $12,500, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 1 1/16 MILES

4-8-6-5

#4 El de Larry (2-1) was second to the very classy Everett’s Song last out, and now faces a much easier group. He should make the front and keep going. #8 Fun Lovin Criminal (5-2) may have crossed the wire first over El de Larry two races back if that rival didn’t drift out. He was nonetheless elevated to victory, and drops back to this condition after a flat effort against better last out. He’ll be a threat if the pace isn’t too slow. #6 Alvy (5-1) got up for third in the the same contest as Everett’s Song and El de Larry last out. He was inexplicably dull a few starts ago at Penn National, but has been in consistently solid form for the better part of a year outside of that.

RACE 2: STARTER OPTIONAL CLAIMING $30,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 1 1/16 MILES

3-1-4-6

#3 Your Analysis (9-5) hasn’t won in a while, but he’s also been in nothing but second-level races for the past year. He’s run brisnet figures of at least 85 in each of his last four races, and while that kind of effort isn’t good enough to beat the types he’s been facing, it’ll suffice for mastering these. #1 Tops the Chart (8-1) was given a brief respite after getting claimed by Kieron Magee out of a flat effort in mid-February. He’ll sit off the pace on the rail and hang around for a share. #4 Sagrada Ray (7-2) has gone gate-to-wire on this track before, and will have every opportunity to do it again here.

RACE 3: MAIDEN CLAIMING $40,000, 3-6-YEAR-OLDS, 6 FURLONGS

2-6-3-1

While it’s true that #2 Pilote Comete (5-2) has burned lots of money against maidens, he’s also run into some tough rivals, including the promising Coringa last out. He drops in for a tag in a race where he has a gigantic figure edge over his opponents, and if today isn’t the day, the day might never come. #6 Meg (5-1) got second in a blanket finish behind a runaway winner last out in her third start off the bench, and now adds Lasix as she gets set to take on the boys. #3 Winning Trip (12-1) has run solid races against similar in his last two starts, and will likely get first crack on the blazingly fast early leader, Karma’s Inthehouse.

RACE 4: CLAIMING $7,500 (CONDITIONED), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 5 1/2 FURLONGS

3-7-6-4

#3 Royal Seamstress (9-5) faded after racing near hot paces in her last two starts, but still ran in the mid-70s, races that would beat these types. She’s worked well since her last effort on February 9, and should enjoy the class drop. #7 Utterly Enchanting (7-2) went off as one of the favorites against similar last out, but was pulled up after one of her bandages came loose. She’s worked well since then, so she should be back to her hold self, barring some other equipment mishap. That last line might throw bettors off the scent a bit. #6 Beach Island (5-1) ran a career-best 78 third off a six-month break last out, and could be rounding into her best form at the right time.

RACE 5: STARTER OPTIONAL CLAIMING $30,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 1 1/8 MILES

1-6-7-4

There’s not a lot of speed in this contest, so whoever’s the most aggressive will probably find herself in the winner’s circle. #1 Woohoo Jackie Blue (9-5) is as good a candidate as any to be the early leader. She missed by the barest of noses first off a three-month layoff last out, and has some on-the-pace victories in her lines. With a rail draw and Jaime Rodriguez aboard, she’s likely to be put into play right out of the gate. #6 Girvinized (12-1) was flat at Penn National last out, but she’s also shown early speed in the past. Raul Mena rode her to a gate-to-wire win last year, and he gets back aboard for the first time since then. #7 Mavilus (2-1) came from last to win against similar last out, and will be a late threat as long as the pace isn’t excruciatingly slow.

RACE 6: MAIDEN CLAIMING $12,500, 3-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES, 6 FURLONGS

3-2-4-5

#3 On a Proud Note (9-5) ran second at 1-2 first off a six-month layoff last out with a career-best 64. She should run even better second off the bench. #2 Riley’s Cry Baby (12-1) showed speed and held on third on debut at Timonium last August. She ran a 64 that day; if she can run back to that race first off a layoff, she’s a gate-to-wire threat. #4 Miss Serafina (5-1) finished second behind the very impressive debut winner Lazy Days last out, improving slightly from her own debut to a 58.

RACE 7: CLAIMING $40,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS, 6 FURLONGS

4-3-1-5

#4 Tiny Lake (3-1) hasn’t run a bad race in four starts this year. He fought hard in a three-way duel last out and ended up second behind one of his dueling partners who saved ground. This time, he’s got the most early speed in the field, and should be able to cross and clear. #3 Fear Nothing (3-2) broke his maiden in gate-to-wire style in mid-November, and makes his first start since December 14, when he faded late after making a move into the pace. He adds Lasix for his 3-year-old debut and has worked well as of late, but he won’t offer much value. #1 Night Preacher (5-1) broke his maiden last out with an impressive last-to-first sweep. He might have won two starts back if he didn’t get bothered in the closing strides.

RACE 8: ALLOWANCE (N/W1X), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 1 1/16 MILES

5-4-2-6

#5 Sister Supream (4-1) has faded after showing speed in her last few starts, but has some gate-to-wire wins on her record, and looks like easily the fastest one in this scattered group. #4 Gilda’s Girl (3-2) has finished second in each of her three tries this year, after getting away with slow paces in her last two starts. She’s rounded back into her career-best form and must be respected, but Sister Supream will make sure she won’t have it too easy on the lead. #2 Dixie Groove (8-1) came from the clouds to win twice at Parx earlier this year. She’ll need some kind of early tempo to make her presence felt, but she’s a contender for underneath regardless.

RACE 9: MAIDEN CLAIMING $12,500, 3-6-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES AND MARES, 5 1/2 FURLONGS

6-3-7-4

#6 She’s a Gem (9-5) was bet early and often on debut, closing at 3-1 as the only first-time starter in the field. She made a promising move and opened up late, only to get caught by the overly experienced Sippin’ Time. Still, it was a promising effort that she can build off of here. #3 Paperback Edition (4-1) has set the pace and held on for a share in each of her two tries here this year, and is likely to be sent for the lead by new rider Xavier Perez. She set the pace in the same race as She’s a Gem, outfinishing her dueling partner by 3 1/2 lengths. #7 Spirit and Truth (5-2) checked out of contention last out, and continues to plunge in class in her third start off a 10-month layoff.
