Monmouth Park gets green light to return

New Jersey’s Governor gave racetracks the green light to return Friday, clearing the way for Monmouth Park to race starting July 3 as planned.

Shotski, on the Triple Crown trail earlier this year, will get the rest of the year off as a result of bone bruising, trainer Jerry O’Dwyer revealed.

Though there’s been no Maryland racing in two months, trainer Claudio Gonzalez has kept stakes winners Lebda and Princess Cadey home.

Delaware Park has pushed its return date back three weeks and aims to shorten its 2020 meet by 20 days in the face of the coronaviruse epidemic.

The date for Preakness 145 will be unveiled Saturday on NBC as part of a two-hour – half-online, half-TV – celebration of the Middle Jewel.
