Jock Darius Thorpe returns with a bang

After nearly eight months away because of injury, jockey Darius Thorpe won with his first mount back last weekend.

The Maryland Jockey Club, owners of Laurel Park and Pimlico, will donate $10,000 to support relief of flood-ravaged Ellicott City.

Classy Mirage and Lord Rebeau will be inducted into the New Jersey-bred Hall of Fame August 28 at Monmouth Park.

Fan favorite Ben’s Cat is among 17 nominated to Saturday’s Mister Diz at Laurel Park, while hard-hitting Monster Sleeping tops the Jameela.
