[su_list icon=”icon: check”]- Last race: Talk about making a first impression! Bobcat, making his career debut Saturday at Laurel Park, pressed the pace set by second choice Williamsburg, disposed of that rival entering the lane, and drew off to a 10-length win in a maiden special weight race at Laurel Park. Williamsburg, the second choice in the race, ended up sixth, beaten by 17 lengths. Running time for the six furlong distance over a good, sealed Laurel Park main track was 1:12.56, earning the three-year-old gelding a solid 72 Beyer. At 6.70-1, Bobcat was the fourth choice in a field of eight.
- Connections: Bobcat is trained by Dale Capuano for Rich Dalone Stable. He was ridden to victory by Jevian Toledo.
- Breeding and auction history: Bobcat was bred in Kentucky by longtime Maryland breeders Mr. and Mrs. Charles McGinnes. He is by Orientate out of the Salt Lake mare Saltster and is a half-sibling to two other winners. He was sold to Capuano, for $15,000, at the 2014 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Eastern Fall Yearlings sale in Timonium.
- Working for the weekeend: Bobcat entered the race Saturday with a steady string of solid works, mostly at five furlongs. In the four works prior to his debut, his times had been in the top third of all workers at the distance.
